During the 1950s, affablely disordered muckle who were harmful to societyand themselves could be treated with medications and were able to return safelyto their communities. During the 1980s, the cost of health c be increased morethan any separate cost in our national economy. As a result, strategic planhas been made to reduce costs. The political decision made todeinstitutionalize chronic affable patients started with the appearance ofphenothiazine medications. Dramatic solelyy reducing the instability influenced bypsychosis, these medications were of keen significance to many individuals withserious mental disorders. At both the farming and federal levels, legislatorslooked at the high cost of long-term psychiatric hospitalization. heartyscientists guaranteed them that community-based care would be in the bestinterests of all concerned the mentally ill and the general, tax-paying public(Barry 13). It was believed that a friendly breakdown syndrome would develop inchronical ly mentally ill persons who were institutionalized. Thecharacteristics of this syndrome were submission to authority, withdrawal, lackof initiative, and excessive dependence on the institution.While deinstitutionalization was kindhearted in its primary logic, theactual exercise of the concept has been greatly undermined by the lack of goodcommunity alternatives. At this time a large amount of the individuals usingcommunity mental health treatment services are the dispossessed. Nearly half of thehomeless are chronically mental ill. These individuals are often separated fromtheir families and all alone on the dangerous street. These homelessschizophrenics stay away from social structures such as community healthtreatment centers. Since they start a new life of independence they often stoptaking their medications, endure psychotic and out of place, and begin to stretch outon the street. Since the schizophrenics are deinstitutionalized they are throwninto a whole new world of indepe ndence. Since their hit functions incompatiblethan the usual human world they cant cope with the problems of life. Theschizophrenics drive themselves crazy lacking to kill themselves and others inorder to escape from this perplexing world.Schizophrenia is the nearly common psychoses i... ...around because states areclosing their mental institutes for financial reasons. Even though the cost ofmental institutes are high, the schizophrenics are better off being kept in thembecause they could cause a huge uproar on the streets. Without the mentalinstitutes the schizophrenics will get worse because they are unable to liveindependently. Many schizophrenics might even be harmful to society becausetheir brain is out of control. The paranoid schizophrenics could go on arampage and filter out to kill everyone in sight because they think that everyone isout to hurt them.
